20 Ways to Go Plastic Free

This year, we're partaking in Plastic Free July (and every day). It's an annual movement that educates others on their plastic consumption and provides alternatives to reduce plastic waste, while encouraging change to help preserve mother nature.

We believe our impact on the environment is an important aspect of our company ethos. We spend time ensuring our range is sustainably sourced, recyclable, biodegradable, or able to be repurposed. To us, this effort gives us peace of mind knowing we are not contributing waste to our environment. It helps us sleep at night.

Top 20 Ways to go Plastic Free Anytime

Here's our top 20 ways to participate in Plastic Free July this month (and every month after that):

  1. Purchase your own reusable coffee cup.
  2. BYO reusable water bottle. Single-use plastic water bottles are a thing of the past.
  3. Find plastic-free alternatives when purchasing vegetables and fruit (hit up your local food market).
  4. Reusable shopping bags.
  5. Say NO to plastic straws. Buy your own reusable metal one instead.
  6. Reduce, Reuse Recycle.
  7. Avoid pre-packed goods at food stores (i.e. Bread, meat, baked goods).
  8. VISIT and buy from more bulk food stores. No unnecessary packaging, bring your own jars and buy in larger quantities.
  9. Plastic-free toothbrushes (corn, wooden or bamboo).
  10. Toothpaste tablets over plastic tubed toothpaste.
  11. Buy unwrapped bar soap instead of plastic bottled liquid soap.
  12. Shampoo and Conditioner bars instead of bottles.
  13. Refill cleaning supplies, laundry supplies and other household products at a bulk food store.
  14. Use a reusable razor over a disposable, plastic one.
  15. Try a menstrual cup instead of plastic-wrapped tampons and pads.
  16. Forego cling wrap for reusable containers.
  17. Avoid teabag brands that use plastic.
  18. Support environmentally sustainable brands that use compostable/biodegradable or recyclable products and packaging.
  19. Buy clothing from OP shops instead of large, fast-fashion brands whose carbon footprint is often extensive. Plus, op shop clothes aren’t packaged or wrapped in plastic.
  20. Attempt to make beauty products out of ingredients in your own pantry. From toothpaste, cleansers, moisturisers and facials, you can google and find natural ingredients that don’t need plastic bottles or packaging.

Do your best this Plastic Free July and every day of the year and remember that every little bit counts. You'll sleep better knowing you've done your bit!
